Marketou represented Greece in 18th Sao Paulo Biennial, Sao Paolo, Brazil and in Manifesta 1, Rotterdam, Netherlands. In 2008 she presented a site-specific solo project at International Art PULSE/New York, US and her large-scale site specific sculpture was commissioned by Ohio State Art Council and Ingenuity Festival which was installed in the Playhouse Square, Cleveland, Ohio.
 
She has been awarded grants and artists residencies worldwide and holds a Master of Fine Arts from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. She has lectured extensively and has taught as an adjunct professor Photography and Interdisciplinary studio art at The Cooper Union School of Art and Science in New York City. She is the author of the book with photographs and interviews " The Great Longing: The Greeks Immigrants of Astoria,Queens" Kedros Publishers, Athens, Greece.
